More hurdles have been set, other ones have been updated, and here is the outcome:

We start at the start-up platform towards the 10 m long box set moderately down. It is followed by a small jump on the table of which a wooden beam has been placed to help perform thousands of different tricks. The coming jump is for beginners, with a platform of about 3 m and a fine landing. The small jumps are followed by the 8 m long street rail of qualities similar to those of wine - the older, the better. After the rail comes the start-up dune onto the 6 m long grooved pipe with a small upward rail. Next you can have fun on the straight, 6 m long and 0.5 m broad box. And then two Burton snow park jewels follow - two kickers for advanced riders - a table of about 9 m on the first one and 11 m on the other. Of course the landing at the jumps is long and steep enough to eliminate the risks of injuries.

The Burton snow park has been changing and will be changing as the hurdles arrangements and combinations will be altering too. The in-run speed at individual hurdles will depend on differences in temperature and snow quality, thus securing fun with the versatility of incredible tricks originating in the ‘plant' called Burton snow park Jasná.

28 January 2010                                                   video - presentation of snow park 2010

Snow park has been completed at last and is ready to be shredded!
To allow for better park maintenance, several details have been altered when compared with the previous year:
THE FIRST PART at the upper, gentle top in the following sequence: 10m straight box set moderately down, followed by a small jump with a table of about 4m with an appropriate landing; next coming is an 8m street down rail, followed by a 6-metre grooved pipe and then a 6m flat box with the small wide box in one line. The first part of the park will end by radius, completed with a wooden block of bigger diameter as coping.
THE SECOND PART of the park consists of jumps designed for advanced riders as the first platform has about 9 m and the kicker is more off the ground. The second kicker is flatter and the rider does not get too high up in the air, which is positive from the point of safety. However, the kicker needs to be approached at higher speed to enable the rider to fly through the platform, thus enabling him to adopt the feeling of speed.

The park has been designed in such a way as to make its maintenance as little complicated as possible. The Záhradky centre has been enhanced in an extra groomer and we believe that the park maintenance will be in absolute accordance with its visitors' wishes.

13th January - the first hurdles have been set

The winter has been quite mean with precipitations so far, so this season's completion of the Burton SNOW PARK has been coming to life a bit more slowly than a year ago, when there was quite enough of white ‘duvet'. Despite these negative effects the so called S - Line (small line) started operating at the upper part of Jelení Grúň a few days ago so the visitors to the resort may begin to warm up at the small straight jump of about a 4 m table, the 4 m straight rail, the side wall ride and at the 6 m box. Naturally, everything is set on the drop platforms.

Y-RAILSeveral novelties have been prepared for this season at the Burton SNOW PARK. One of them will be a new hurdle by Y-Rail construction - a multifunctional rainbow (check photo) well known from the last season's Slovak cup snowboard race. (It will be set when there is enough snow.)

At present the snowing cannons at Jelení Grúň are working at full swing and soon the substance for building up the two-jump line will be ready in its full beauty, thus allowing you to get ready for the walks in the sky. You may start looking forward to several events at the Burton SNOW PARK, on which you will be informed well in advance.

NEWS - WINTER 2010:

From the bird's eye view the park will shift from the right side to the left side, where the ground is better predisposed for building up the key jumps.
New solid hurdles will be added, set in a bit different way from that freestyle riders in Slovakia have been used to so far
Absolute beginners will get their own hurdle line where they will get used to riding, get the grip of it, and gradually they will be able to move on to the champions' hurdles Wink

the snow park crew will be also new; they will maintain the park under the strict supervision of an experienced local snowboarder who has organized and built jumps and other hurdles for varied significant snowboarding events.

The park is situated at the Jelení Grúň piste, the place which had been created just for this purpose by the nature. Last season quite a large sum of money was invested in the modern snowing system by the resort thus enabling the plans to turn into reality. The uneven ground is a huge advantage in the park as during the last season it provided good conditions for creating number of interconnected snow or solid hurdles of the total length of 1, 500 m. This gave the park the status of the best park of its kind in Slovakia, as well as in neighbouring countries. Its designers are involved in building up parks and organizing snowboarding events on international level. The first year revealed what was operating well and what could be improved.

The park will be shaped in funky style - it should be mainly about fun and not about fear of injuries. The top fat jump which is so appreciated by spectators will also be there. Those who are really good at the sport can show what they can do. Everything meshes perfectly together and freeskiers and snowboarders can enjoy here a lot of fun and thank to the park they can move into higher levels and so they can attend competitions and earn money.

Main shapers of the park:  Marek Hliničan and  Martin Petráš

As our guys have long lasting experience with building up parks, it is natural that safety is the basis of everything, and the shape, the size of the hurdles, as well as the declivity and length of the run-outs will be determined by it.

You can be looking forward to several interesting events at the park:

The Mega Nokia snowboard series race organized by the Slovak Snowboard Association at which tricks never seen or experienced before will be seen and experienced. The date of 13 March 2010 is settled then. More info at the events section >
