Filip Polc had the best line in O2 Jasna Challenge
Filip Folc became the first winner of historically the first fourcross O2 Jasna Challenge which was held in Slovakia.
JASNÁ (September 29) – Bike Park Jasna was the centre of meeting of two-pedal experts in mountain bikes rides from three countries. The experts took part in historically the first fourcross in Slovakia! Filip Polcmet expectations of native fans because he was unbeatable in every ride and became a total winner.
Polc´s journey towards victory already started in qualifying rides in which he dedicated almost 5 seconds to a French contestant Camellini who became the second (Camellini was the third in the last world´s championship in Maribor). The third positin belonged toPavel Čep. 32 fastest contestants competed in eight-final „with the gloves off.“ There were four cyclists at the start and one ideal line towards victory. It was a fight on a knife-edge. “It was important to be in a good position already at the start because it was almost impossiible to overtake one another on the steep track under the cable car, “ Filip Polc explained. The contestants could expect various pitfalls on 1850 long track from Rovna hola to Zahradky with a slope of 28,4% and uprise of 463 metres. Clay rises, sharp rocks, slippery roots, grit road with camber curves and final jump in a curve. It is difficult not only to ride on the track under the cable car in Jasna but also to walk there . Many contestants were breathless in 180 degrees curves . No wonder , a builder of captious track was Filip Polc himself in 2004. “This week the start was reconditioned to enable start of four contestants at the same time and we also added the places where the contestants could overtake one another on the track,“ the builder explained.
“The semifinal was the roughest. I completely failed at the start and I was in the third position before the third curve. At the moment like this a quick reaction is very important. I judged the situation and began to act. " Finally Filip won also the semifinal ride and four greatest favourites competed in the finale. European Champion, native favourite Filip Polc, French downhill cyclist Julien Camellini and two contestants from the Czech Republic, the legend Michal Mároši and a young rival Kamil Tatarkovič. . In the final ride nobody was faster than Filip Polc who was at the decisive leading position already at the half of the track. Just before the finish he even made a feint for spectators when he turned his handlebars into quadrant while jumping in the curve . Michal Mároši sprinted towards the second position. The third position belonged to the French contestant Julien Camellini. “I don´t ride fourcross discipline so I came to Jasna O2 Challenge to have some fun. But I think that the track was in a very good condition and its potential for future major international fourcross competitions is very high,“ Julien described a promising future of Slovak fourcross competitions. The last word has a chief organizer Jana Šeďová who succeeded in preparing the event of a very high standard. ,,I am extremely satisfied. The weather was perfect, “ said Jana at the Prize Giving ceremony. “People had a good time and the atmosphere was excellent. More than 1000 people came to Jasna today.“
