WHITE CODE RULES OF BEHAVIOUR ON SKI SLOPES

 

1. RESPECT FOR OTHER SKIERS AND SNOWBOARDERS - Every skier or snowboarder must behave in such a way that he/she does not endanger health or life, or prejudice others.


2. CONTROL OF SPEED AND MANNER OF SKIING OR SNOWBOARDING - Every skier or snowboarder must move in control. He or she must adapt the speed and manner of skiing or snowboarding to personal ability and to the prevailing conditions of terrain, snow and weather, as well as to the density of traffic.


3. CHOICE OF ROUTE - A skier or snowboarder coming from behind must choose his or her route in such a way not to endanger skiers or snowboarders ahead and leave enough space for the skier or snowboarder in front of him/her.


4. Overtaking - A skier or snowboarder may overtake another skier or snowboarder to the right or to the left provided that enough space is left for the overtaken skier or snowboarder to make any voluntary or involuntary movement.


5. ENTERING, STARTING AND MOVINGUPWARDS - When entering a marked run: Skiers or snowboarders, starting again af-ter stopping or moving upwards on the slopes, must look up and down the slopes before moving so as not to endanger themselves or others.


6. Stopping and waiting - Unless absolutely necessary, skiers or snowboarders must avoid stopping on the piste in nar-row places or where visibility is restricted. If a fall should occur here, it is essential to move clear of the piste as soon as possible.


7. CLIMBING AND DESCENDING ON FOOT - A skier or snowboarder either climbing or descending on foot must keep to the side of the slopes.


8. RESPECT FOR SIGNS - Skiers and snowboarders must respect all signs and markings.


9. ASSISTANCE - In the case of an accident, every skier or snowboarder is duty bound to assist based on his/her abilities and skills, report the accident to the operator of the ski slope and/or the Mountain Rescue Service and/or any other authorised person (ski patrol, a public administration body) and stay in the place of accident until necessary help is provided by an authorised employee of the ski slope operator and/or the Mountain Rescue Service.


10. SAFETY OF THE SKIING EQUIPMENT - Skiers are allowed to use skiing equipment only if safe use is guaranteed by the respective producer of the product and the equipment as well as the skis/snowboard are secured so as not to be released spontaneously.

11. EXTRA SAFETY - Skiers under the age of 15 are obliged to protect their heads on ski routes with proper ski helmets.

12. IDENTIFICATION - Following any accident, every skier and snowboarder, whether a responsible party or witness, must exchange names and addresses with the Mountain Rescue Service, ski patrol, a public administration body or a resort employee.

13. ENTERING SKI SLOPES - During the time of cableway operation, any other person except skiers and persons providing assistance to an injured individual can enter ski routes only if allowed by the resort operator. Entering the pistes before and after the time of operation is strictly forbidden due to danger of injury by snow-grooming and snow-making machines and their ropes, especially those with a cable winch.

14. ORGANISED SKI/SNOWBOARD LESSONS - Any person that teaches skiing or snowboarding on ski slopes is obliged to secure that skiers/snowboarders under the age of 15 wear reflective safety clothing or reflective safety elements.

15. THE FIRST SKI / SNOWBOARD LESSONS - The first ski / snowboard lessons (i.e. lessons when the skiers/snowboarders do not use ski lifts or other transport facilities and walk up the slope) shall be performed outside the following areas which are not designated for this purpose: slopes no. 2b Májová Priehyba–Jasná, 12a Jelení Grúň, 34b Panoráma Predné Dereše-Kosodrevina, 34c Panoráma Chopok- Predné Dereše, area of first 100 m of slope no. 13 Biela Púť and lower 200 m of slopes: slope no. 13 Biela Púť, slope no. 10 Vrbická, slope no.5 Turistická, slope no. 11 FIS, slope no. 12 Jelení Grúň and slope no. 1a Pretekárska Luková-Priehyba.

16. PROMOTIONAL AND BUSINESS ACTIVITIES ON SKI SLOPES - Unless allowed by the resort operator, the ski slopes, ski routes and finish areas cannot be used for promotional purposes (e.g. placement of stalls, advertising equipment etc.). Unless allowed by the resort operator and respective bodies (including specific official permits), the ski slopes, ski routes and finish areas cannot be used for business or any other gainful activities.

Tatry mountain resorts, a.s., i.e. the resort operator reserves the right to prohibit entrance to the ski slopes, ski routes and/or finish areas if any rule of this White Code or any instruction of the operator is not respected; and prohibit such individuals from using transport services of the mountain transport facilities on the particular day by blocking their ski passes.
